Successful Steering Committee Meeting in Vilnius

The main aim behind this steering committee meeting of the European and target partners was to present the results of the implemented work packages, present the partner’s sustainability plans and discuss some managerial issues and any further suggestions and improvements to the outputs and outcomes that will be carried out during the funded period of this TEMPUS project. This meeting was hosted by VGTU in 22-23.03.2016

The agenda for this meeting was divided into two parts over two days. The first part was dedicated to present the establishment issues of a scientific journal, present the national policy paper of the ninth work package and the partners’ sustainability plans. The second part was more dedicated to management issues and the results of the quality plan.

In the first day, VGTU dean of business management faculty gave a welcome speech as a host followed by a short talk by Dr. Tariq Mahmoud from OL regarding the status of project implementation. Then the LB/SY universities’ representatives held presentations about their sustainability plans. Finally, a discussion about the project’s managerial issues took place at the second day of this meeting.

The Third Training Workshop at LU, Beirut

Lebanese University hosted on February 16-17, 2015 the third and last training workshop within the framework of the Matre Tempus project (coordinated by the University of Oldenburg – Germany). The workshop started with a welcome speech by Dr. Khalil Feghali, the LU representative followed by the grant holder welcome word, Dr. Tariq Mahmoud. The main objectives of the workshop were to provide knowledge in the project training areas by the EU partners to the Lebanese and Syrian partner universities, to recall the sustainability plan, and to discuss the remaining upcoming activities of the project.

Successful Training Workshop at OL

Oldenburg University organized the third EU training workshop in Oldenburg,  Germany for the Lebanese and Syrian partners. This workshop had been successfully taken place at 08-13 of November 2015. Eight staff members from the Lebanese Partner Universities and ten staff members from the Syrian Partner Universities had been trained in this workshop coordinated by Dr. Tariq Mahmoud. The main three training areas focused on linking entrepreneurship with industry,  advanced business research methods and new teaching methods.

The Second Training Workshop at MUBS

MUBS hosted on October 8-9, 2015 a training workshop within the framework of the Matre Tempus project (coordinated by the University of Oldenburg – Germany). The workshop started with a welcome speech by Dr. Nael Alami (Vice President for Research & Innovation – MUBS) and Dr. Bassem Kaissi, the Vice President for International Relations. The main objectives of the workshop were to provide knowledge in the project training areas by the EU partners to the Lebanese and Syrian partner universities, to recall the quality, dissemination, and sustainability project plans, and to discuss the remaining upcoming activities of the project. The main topics covered in the training included EasyChair Conference Management System, STATA (statistical package), and scientific articles reviewing process. On the second day of the workshop, the MATRE lab at MUBS was officially opened by the grant holder representative Dr. Tariq Mahmoud and all project partners participated in the opening ceremony.

Successful Training Workshop at UA

Oldenburg University and University of Alicante organized a training workshop in UA,  Alicante for the Lebanese and Syrian partners. This workshop had been successfully taken place at 27-31 of July 2015. Seven staff members from the Lebanese Partner Universities and nine staff members from the Syrian Partner Universities had been trained in this workshop coordinated by Dr. Tariq Mahmoud. The main two training areas focused on statistical packages, project management and fund raising.

Quality Meeting and Training Workshop at LU

This workshop coordinated by Dr. Tariq Mahmoud was hosted by Lebanese University and took place from 29-30.06.2015 with the participation of the Lebanese and Syrian NEO officers. The main aim behind this workshop was to provide knowledge in the training areas by the EU partners to the partner universities, brief the implementation status at each partner university, present the quality, dissemination and sustainability plans besides discussing the upcoming activities in the project.

Roadmap Workshop with the Syrian Partners in Lebanon

Oldenburg University and organized at 01-02 of July 2015 a roadmap workshop with the Syrian Partners. This workshop was coordinated by Dr. Tariq Mahmoud and it took place in Beirut, Lebanon with the attendance of 5 colleagues from Aleppo University and 2 from Damascus University. The main aims of this workshop were to draw a roadmap for the project implementation in the Syrian partner universities and especially in Aleppo University, discuss the potential LFM for an extra year in the case the project gets prolonged, present the quality plan and define a co-financing strategy.

Successful Training Workshop at VGTU

Oldenburg University and Vilnius Gediminas Technical University organized a training workshop in VGTU, Vilnius for the Lebanese and Syrian partners. This workshop was coordinated by Dr. Tariq Mahmoud and it had been successfully taken place at 02-04 of June 2015. Eight staff members and one student from Lebanon and eleven staff members and three students from Syria had been trained in this workshop. The main two training areas focused on how to write scientific publications and the major issues that have to be taken into consideration in Leadership, presentation and communication skills.

Follow-Up Meeting of Management and Academic Teams at KTH, Sweeden

Oldenburg University and Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden organized at 20-21 of April 2015 the MSC.ESE Consortium Workshop. Dr. Tariq Mahmoud presented the overall status of the project development and the consortium decided about a necessary extension after getting EACEA approval and determined the sustainability plan and student mobility. Besides that, this meeting was intended to have the fifth follow-up management meeting of the European and target partners to present the results of the implemented activities so far.

Training Visit to Egypt

A training visit to Egypt coordinated by Dr. Tariq Mahmoud had been successfully taken place at 20-26 of March 2015 in parallel with the first Egyptian ESE conference. The presidents and the vice presidents of SU and ACU together with their contact persons attended this conference. Eight Teachers from Germany, Spain, Sweden, Portugal and Tunisia came to Egypt. The purpose of this visit was the training of local teachers at SU and ACU by the teachers who authored the modules.

Visits to the faculties and laboratories involved in the project and introductions of the local teacher teams and students at SU and ACU Besides the structure of the MSC.ESE programme’s structure in Egypt were arranged in this visit as well. Managerial issues related to the implementation of this project were also brought into discussion by coordinated by Dr. Tariq Mahmoud in this visit.
